Q:
Why Bartending?
- Bartending is an extremely well paying vocation. Bartenders make more money working a few shifts than most professionals do working a full-time job. Whether you are in between jobs, looking for flexible part time work, or simply want to meet more people, you can always bank on bartending at any age or any income level!
Q:
How can I get hired without any prior experience?
- More bars & restaurants are hiring people without experience because of two words: bad habits. After years of experience, veteran bartenders can pick up bad habits and are often difficult and resistant to retraining. Enthusiasm is also an issue with experienced bartenders. No one is going to be more enthusiastic about bartending than a new DrinkMaster Graduate. Many bar owners agree that DrinkMaster grad's are professional, comfortable behind the bar, and know just enough knowledge to be molded into what they need.
Q:
How can I learn so much in only a week?
- It's simple. With a quality comprehensive curriculum & unique teaching from qualified licensed instructors, our week program WORKS! Thousands of completely satisfied graduates who landed bartending jobs will agree (see here for a couple of examples!). Our instructors love what they do and are dedicated to the success of every student. We keep classes sizes small so you get plenty of individual attention. We never use video supplementation; you spend all of your time getting hands-on training behind the bar with our instructors who never leave your side throughout the entire course.
Q:
Are all bartending schools the same?
- Absolutely not. Unfortunately some people choose a school based on whether they are the cheapest/most expensive/or have the longest program. These aren't the right reasons - the quality of training IS the RIGHT reason, and our success stories prove it! At DrinkMaster Bartending School we pride ourselves in having the highest quality instruction anywhere. We encourage you to visit our school, meet the instructors and see our training. Then feel free to go check out the other schools and compare the difference.
Q:
What should I look for when choosing a school?
- Do your homework! Make sure you are choosing a reputable, licensed school that provides you the right training so you can actually get a job. Search the Internet for schools in your area. Check out their websites to get general information, request a brochure and ask to be contacted by the school. See their response time. Be wary of schools without a full time administrative staff. Then:
o Visit several schools; make a comparison.
o Ask for a FREE introductory hands-on class.
o Check that the classroom is set up like a fully equipped bar.
o Listen to the instructors; are you comfortable with their teaching style?
o Talk to the students, and ask for references (Are they completely satisfied)?
o Ask if they have job placement assistance, or online job database access.
o Don't be pressured into signing up! Our school and reputation speaks for itself and we will answer every question and concern you have, professionally and honestly without any pressure.
o Finally, relax! Many students take our course even AFTER attending another school. So don't hesitate to give us a call if you think you've chosen the wrong school - we'll help you fix it!
Q:
Will I be a certified bartender upon graduation from DrinkMaster?
YES! Upon graduation you will receive all Certifications necessary to be a bartender as well as a diploma approved by DrinkMaster Bartending School and the Massachusetts Department of Education. Certification is required by major insurance companies and allows your employer to reduce their insurance rates. Your certification is recognized nationally and makes you more marketable to employers. List it at the top of your Resume!
- More info on Bar Code certification can be found here.
Q: Must Bartending Schools
be Licensed?
- Yes! All trade schools must be licensed to certify you. Before choosing a bartending school, make sure they're licensed by going to the MA Department of Education's Trade School Licensure website @ http://www.doe.mass.edu/ops/licensure/listings.html. Or simply ask the school to see their current Trade School License. Learning from a book, video, or on-line course does not get you certified and is not recognized by the Department of Education.
